Safer Skin Care for Healthier Skin

When it comes to skin care, a dollop of common sense and a dash of logic are all it takes to cook up the basics of good health. Despite the myriad products and product claims on the market today, it is possible to sift through until you learn the truth.

“Cosmetics” as a term refers to anything that is put on the body to improve it or beautify it. So, all skin-care and body-care products are included in this category—not just makeup. If the product affects the appearance of the skin, it is considered a cosmetic. If it produces a physiological change to the skin, it is regulated as a drug by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Examples of this are products that contain sunscreen ingredients, and some acne control products.
