Don’t Forget to Eat Healthy!

The American Cancer Society offers some good cancer prevention advice, applicable even to the most strenuous travel itinerary. “Eat a variety of healthful foods with an emphasis on plant sources.” Try to visualize serving sizes his way: one cup of vegetables or fruit equals a baseball, one medium apple or orange equals a tennis ball, one medium potato equals a computer mouse, and one cup of lettuce equals four leaves. The rule of thumb for many people is that we need five or more servings of a variety of vegetables and fruits each day. These contain the needed vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, antioxidants, and fiber.
