Champions of Lower Cholesterol

Eat these foods:

1. Plant sterols (found in plant-sterol enriched margarines such as Smart Balance or Promise Active).

2. Soluble fiber (such as barley, oat bran, peas and legumes, or a supplement like Metamucil).

3. Nuts (eat just about as many as you want and your heart will love you).

4. Soy protein (the doctor says it doesn’t matter how you get it, either through tofu, soy milk, or a soy burger).

These four ingredients can help lower LDL, according to Dr. Vincent Bufalino of the American Heart Association.
