Bugs the Focus of World Health Day, Today, April 7, 2014

“Vectors-borne diseases” communicated by bugs and small animals are a real risk to travelers, but also and especially to people living in third-world countries. According to the World Health Organization, more than half of the world’s population is at risk of insect-borne diseases, especially the poorest people in the world.
The preventive measures are very simple: sleep under a bed net, wear a long-sleeved shirt and trousers, and use insect repellent. Still, not every one in the world can afford even these simple measures.
